Joining the EFHC community
Becoming a member of the Epping Forest Horology Centre opens the door to one of the most active and well‑equipped community horology environments in the UK. Members enjoy access to weekly workshop sessions, specialist courses, social events, and a thriving community of clock and watch enthusiasts.
Membership & Sessions
Membership begins with a one‑off joining fee, after which members can enrol in our weekly workshop sessions, typically offered across a 40‑week annual programme. We also run one‑day and weekend specialist courses, as well as member auctions and social events throughout the year.
Our clock and watch workshops each accommodate up to 14 participants, ensuring a focused and supportive learning environment. Session places are allocated on a first‑come, first‑served basis and depend on availability.
What to Consider Before Joining
- Joining Fee A one‑time joining fee of £60, which enables you to participate in all Centre activities.
- Annual Workshop Sessions Members pay for 40 weekly sessions per year. Current pricing and schedules are available from the Membership Secretary or via our Class Times and Costs information.
- Travel & Access The Centre is not close to public transport. Many members travel by car or arrange shared transport. Taxis are available from Epping Underground Station (Central Line).
- Tools & Projects Beginners will need a clock or watch to work on (some courses include this in the fee). As you progress, you’ll gradually acquire tools and materials — we’re happy to advise on what to buy and when.

Still not sure?

If you’re not quite ready to commit to a course, or simply need a little more time to decide, we warmly invite you to become part of the wider Epping Forest Horology Centre community. By creating a free account, you’ll gain early access to our short courses, priority updates on new learning opportunities, and a closer connection to the world of clockmaking and watchmaking. It’s the perfect way to stay involved, explore at your own pace, and discover everything the Centre has to offer.
