EFHC is a non-profit charity dedicated to keeping the traditional crafts of clockmaking and watchmaking alive. What began with a handful of passionate students has grown into one of the UK’s most active horology communities, where beginners and lifelong tinkerers work side by side under expert guidance in fully equipped workshops. Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need my own tools?
EFHC has a large library of tools that are needed for work on clocks and watches. However, over time you will want to build your own small tools to help you effectively carry out your own works.
Can I join part way through the year?
Most clock sessions may be joined by new
members, part way through our year
at pro-rata rates. However, with watchmaking, we recommend that you wait until the start of the term to join
is there disabled access?
There are steps in and around EFHC but it is accessible with ramps to help those in wheelchairs, walkers or sticks.
Do I get a qualification at the end?
This is a practical learning centre where you can gain skills to help you advance your understanding of these mechanisms. However, our BHI qualified teachers have been key for some to pass their BHI and enabling them to have career progression.
